COVID – 19 Updates

October 06, 2020

Due to the constantly evolving situation regarding COVID-19, we are making on-going changes to our policies and procedures, in order to better assist our clients while ensuring the health and safety of everyone involved.

Transportation Services has successfully transferred to a virtual permit system, whereby a physical permit is no longer required to be displayed on your vehicle’s dashboard. With the suspension of physical permit sales at our office to reduce physical contact, this new system offers a greater level of convenience and personal safety during these unprecedented times.

With the virtual permit system, your vehicle’s license plate now acts as your permit. Once you purchase a permit online, your vehicle will be registered in the enforcement database. Faculty/staff, student, commercial, after 4pm and motorcycle permits are available for purchase on our website through the online permit portal. You are not required to display a permit on your vehicle’s dashboard. Thereby, any documentation displayed on the dashboard will not be accepted. One permit is only valid for one registered vehicle, and is not transferrable. For this reason, it is crucial that your vehicle information is entered correctly into the online permit portal when purchasing your permit online. If an error has been made, your vehicle may be ticketed and/or towed.

Daily parking on campus is available through pay and display machines and online through the app called ‘Whoosh‘.

Although our office remains closed at this time, our parking lots are open and fully operational. Our office staff continue to serve our clients through our voice message system and email while working remotely.

Permit refunds for the month of April 2020 is underway for faculty/staff and students permit holders. Any pre-paid credit card or cheque payments for that month will be refunded.

An update will be provided once our re-opening plan has been determined. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your continued support during these challenging times.

More information regarding the University’s fall plans is available on the UToronto2020 page.
