Chestnut Residence Underground Garage

This spacious parking garage is located underneath U of T’s Chestnut residence at 89 Chestnut St. The building is also home to the Chestnut Conference Centre and St. George Catering.  

The parking garage offers several levels of parking spaces and is located just east of University Ave. & Dundas Ave., on a side street called Chestnut St. It is open to the following:

  • Individuals living at the residence.
  • University of Toronto students and staff members.
  • Members of the public.

The daily maximum rate to park there is $21, and the early bird rate is $15. The evening maximum as well as the weekend and holiday flat rate is $10. The rate for a half an hour is $4.50 and the monthly permit price is $135-$240. The price for a lost ticket is $35.

Chestnut Residence parking permits are valid only at the Chestnut Residence underground garage.

Chestnut Residence parking permits are not valid at any other University of Toronto parking facility.

Height restriction

The height restriction of the garage is five feet elven inches (5’11”). Do not enter the facility if your vehicle meets or exceeds this threshold. Vehicles surpassing this limit that attempt entry and get stuck in the process are solely liable for damage to their vehicle, damage to any UofT property and all costs to extract said vehicle from the Chestnut parking garage.

The request form must be fully completed with all necessary information accurately input. Missing or incorrect information will void the request form. In such cases, a new form will need to be submitted.

In order to purchase permits and manage registered vehicles you must open an online account.

Chestnut Residence parking permits are valid only at the Chestnut Residence underground garage. Your Chestnut Residence permit is not valid at any other University of Toronto parking facility.

The following permit types are available:

  • Staff/student (living at Chestnut Residence).
  • Staff/student (external).
  • Courthouse Employee.
  • External (available to the public).

Before requesting a permit, please be sure your vehicle is lower than the facility height restriction (five feet elven inches – 5’11”). Vehicles surpassing this limit that attempt entry and get stuck in the process are solely liable for damage to their vehicle, UofT property and all costs to extract said vehicle from the garage.

A QR code is required to enter and exit the underground parking facility. Once your permit request is submitted, your online account has been activated, and permit payment has been made, a PDF QR code with usage instructions will be sent alongside your receipt to your email.
