Chestnut Residence Underground Garage
This parking facility is located at 89 Chestnut Street, under the University of Toronto’s Chestnut Residence and Conference Centre. It is open to the following:
- Individuals living at the residence.
- University of Toronto students and staff members.
- Members of the public.
PERMIT YEAR
MAY 2023 – APRIL 2024
Chestnut Residence parking permits are valid only at the Chestnut Residence underground garage.
Chestnut Residence parking permits are not valid at any other University of Toronto parking facility.
Height restriction
The height restriction of the garage is six feet (5’11”). Do not enter the facility if your vehicle meets or exceeds this threshold. Vehicles surpassing this limit that attempt entry and get stuck in the process are solely liable for damage to their vehicle, damage to any UofT property and all costs to extract said vehicle from the Chestnut parking garage.
Access card required

An access card is required to enter and exit the underground parking facility. First, submit your permit request. Once your online account has been activated, and your permit payment has been made, instructions on obtaining your access card from the Chestnut Residence will be sent to you.
Open an Account
The request form must be fully completed with all necessary information accurately input. Missing or incorrect information will void the request form. In such cases, a new form will need to be submitted.
In order to purchase permits and manage registered vehicles you must open an online account.
Chestnut Residence parking permits are valid only at the Chestnut Residence underground garage. Your Chestnut Residence permit is not valid at any other University of Toronto parking facility.
The following permit types are available:
- Staff/student (living at Chestnut Residence).
- Staff/student (external).
- Courthouse Employee.
- External (available to the public).
Before requesting a permit, please be sure your vehicle is lower than the facility height restriction (six feet – 6’0″). Vehicles surpassing this limit that attempt entry and get stuck in the process are solely liable for damage to their vehicle, UofT property and all costs to extract said vehicle from the garage.
An access card is required to enter and exit the underground parking facility. Once your permit request is submitted, your online account has been activated, permit payment has been made, instructions will be sent to you on how to obtain your access card from within the Chestnut Residence.

These regulations are strictly enforced and unfamiliarity with them will not constitute reasonable grounds for Transportation Services to void tickets and/or additional charges.
