License Plate Change Policy
License Plate Change Policy
Permits can only have one registered license plate. However, permit holders have access to their account and have a maximum of 7 changes, in a rolling 7 day period.
What does this mean?
When a permit holder attempts to make a license plate change, the system scans their account for the previous seven days for any changes. If there is not a total of seven changes in that period, the system will allow the plate change to be processed. If there are seven changes in that period, the system will deny the plate change.
The seven previous days are counted from the date and time a permit holder attempts to make a license plate change. So, if you attempt to make a change at 1pm, July 1st, 2021, the system will scan the period of 1pm, July 1st, 2021 to 1pm, June 24th.
If the permit holder attempts to make a change at 3pm, July 8th, 2021, the system will scan the period of 3pm, July 8th, 2021 to 3pm, July 1st, 2021.
Think of it as timeline that moves forward with each passing day.
What if you make multiple changes in one day?
For instance, let’s assume a permit holder made seven license plate changes on July 1st, at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm and 7pm. After the final license plate change at 7pm, the permit holder will not be able to make another plate change until 1pm, July 8th. Then, at 2pm, July 8th, another plate change would be allowed. And so forth.
We recognize vehicle usage does not remain consistent month to month. Sometimes not even week to week. This “rolling” seven day period provides the flexibility needed for permit holders to use their permit in the most convenient and efficient way possible.
